Drive yourself Insane with Codemasters' 4x4 racing riot on PC complete with Internet play
Codemasters turns the ignition key on its multi-player all-terrain 4x4 racing game later this year as Insane - the game where dangerous driving is the safest bet - gets into gear on PC.
Especially designed for Internet and LAN play, Insane puts players behind the wheel of a range of off-road vehicles including jeeps, trucks and even military vehicles all with realistic, individual handling. Featuring stunning simultaneous multi-player racing, players can kick up plenty of road dirt against human or computer generated competitors across terrain guaran1teed to put even the toughest suspension to the test.
Unlike previous off-road titles, Insane's locations are not only vast, but allow for total freedom to race across the varied terrains that are without boundaries and tracks. This style of racing provides the game with some groundbreaking game modes not seen before.
In the Jamboree game, it's high-speed dash to race through a series of flagged gates placed randomly on the terrain. A marker constantly indicates the most direct route between the vehicle and the next gate, but beware the shortest route is not always the quickest - or safest.
In addition, Insane also features a wild spin on the Capture the Flag format, a destruction race and even a Soccer mode, where cars replace footballers in an attempt to score on a 'pitch' that wouldn't even be deemed playable by a Sunday League referee.
Still providing high-octane excitement in more familiar game modes, Insane delivers Off Road and Rally racing. However, with potholes, boulders, trees the odd wildebeest littering the courses the route to victory is fraught with danger and often the more daredevil driver will succeed over those who opt for strategy! A full championship series is also available pitching drivers against the full set of Insane's challenges.
From the snow and ice of Yosemite to the arid dunes of the African desert, Insane features amazingly detailed and living 3D locations. Don't be surprised to see a herd of buffalo suddenly begin to stampede on hearing the roar of your beast's engine.
With full multi-player support via a LAN or across the Internet for up to 8 players, Insane will deliver riotous 4x4 racing when it is released later this year on PC-CD ROM.
